Lomi Lomi Nui massage

... originates from Hawaii and is still practised there today, but is not known by this name there. One reason for this is that this is the ‘family massage’, which is passed on within the family. That is why there is no such thing as ‘the’ Lomi Lomi Nui. There are many different styles, so their uniqueness can be attributed to the respective family from which the teacher comes. Originally, this type of touch was reserved for the ‘Ali'i’, the rulers of the Hawaiian islands, before it became a family tradition. On the other hand, the wisdom and traditional teachings of the Kahunas, the priests and healers, are (still) not allowed to be passed on outside the family.

Lomi is often referred to as the ‘Hawaiian temple massage’. It bears this title partly because the Hawaiians also refer to the human body as the ‘temple of the soul’. It was also originally practised by the Kahunas - the traditional healers of Hawaii - in combination with energising step sequences or dance movements in their temples, i.e. sacred sites. ‘Lomi‘ means “to rub, press, knead, touch”, the doubling intensifies the meaning and “nui” means “big, great, unique, but also ”to be touched with the velvety paws of a contented cat’ ...

Inspired by the initiation rituals of the Kahunas in Hawaii, LOMI LOMI NUI - Hawaiian Temple Massage is a unique form of bodywork. Slow, gentle touches alternate with dynamic movements. Physical tension or joint pain can be released. Beliefs, i.e. old behavioural patterns, can also be released.

Experience this 90 Minutes heavenly full-body massage - from the tips of your feet to the ends of your hair - for yourself. Accompanied by sounds from Hawaii, every part of the body receives the attention it needs through gentle pressing, stroking and stretching in flowing movements. With gentle hands, soft elbows and forearms and warm oil, both the upper and lower parts of the body are massaged with long, sometimes rhythmic strokes.

This lasts until all the senses have forgotten the worries of everyday life and finally even space and time. Without having experienced it, this sensual massage cannot be adequately described in words - it is impossible to explain what is to be felt ...

The client is advised not to wear underwear during the massage to allow the masseur to perform the long massage strokes unhindered. The intimate area is continuously covered with a towel!

As mentioned, Lomi has its roots in Hawaii and was once often practised by the wise Kahunas, the masters, in their ‘temples’, their sacred places. They combined ritual, songs, prayers, dance and bodywork to create a massage experience that conveyed a unique sense of well-being and was also known as temple dance massage at the time. During the massage, the step of the frigate bird is imitated - and this sequence of steps is perceived from the outside as a ‘dance’ (not to be confused with the traditional hula dance). The massage was used for inner cleansing and prepared people for an important new beginning in their lives, such as the transition from adolescent to adult, a new, important task in life or similar. It was important to the Kahunas to show people respect for creation, nature and the connection to it and to allow them to experience it tangibly.

During my massage, you are also welcome to let go of the ‘old’ in order to invite in the ‘new’ in order to better master your very special ‘transition’.

In the old days, such massages often took many hours or even days. Today, just 90 minutes or so can give us this extraordinary experience, a feast for all our senses.

The focus is particularly on accepting and supporting the person being massaged with a wide-open heart, humility, forgiveness and mindfulness. This creates the space on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level to open people up to new paths and solve old problems.

The aim of this massage is also to release old tensions and current blockages, which are often caused by painful experiences or accidents. Stress and old thought patterns that are ‘stored’ in the body's cellular memory are to be dissolved.

Although the word ‘massage’ is often used, it does not fully capture the essence of the treatment. As Lomi is also very much about stretching and elongating the body, it is more of a full-body application or bodywork. Limbs and joints receive equal attention!

The Lomi Lomi Nui massage is therefore more of a cleansing and harmonising ritual designed to help the body free itself from stressful energies. Through the depth of relaxation during the massage, you experience yourself intensively in your body. You become aware of yourself, feel yourself anew, experience inner harmony and the feeling of self-love and security that flows through the body.

This feeling is particularly intense when the treatment is carried out with four hands (i.e. by two therapists). Often synchronised movements and touches of the body create an experience in which the mind surrenders, you let go of control and the spirit becomes free. You are immersed in an ocean of unintentional, unconditional love, security and bliss!

This is probably the reason why this treatment is becoming increasingly popular in Central Europe. Numerous training courses are offered in Lomi Lomi Nui massage, which has its origins in the Hawaiian Kahunas.

LOMI is a holistic massage in the truest sense of the word - the whole body is treated - and has both a physical and psychological effect. Stress is relieved, anxieties dissolved and even the course of illnesses can be positively influenced.

According to the Hawaiian view, illnesses are caused by blockages that inhibit or prevent the flow of energy in the body. Lomi is an excellent and incomparably beautiful way to allow energy to flow again and thus to activate all the wonderful self-healing mechanisms in the body that we are so richly blessed with.
